Sunset Experience boat trip in Roses — the most beautiful sunset

Sunset Experience — the most beautiful sunset in Roses from the water

There is a moment of the day in Roses that most tourists see from the beach or from a terrace. We show it to you from the water.

Private boat trip · Canals & Bay · Unforgettable moment

What exactly is the Sunset Experience?

The Sunset Experience is a private boat trip at sunset departing from the Santa Margarita canals: the sun going down over Roses Bay, the reflections in the canal water and that late Mediterranean light that turns every moment into something impossible to forget. For couples, for small groups, for anyone who wants to end the day in a way they will never forget.

It is a private evening boat trip designed specifically to enjoy the sunset from the sea. It lasts approximately 2 hours and combines two of the most photogenic settings in Roses: the Santa Margarita canals as dusk falls and Roses Bay with the sun on the horizon.

The trip starts when the sun is still high — with enough time to cruise the canals in the warm late-day light — and ends when the sky has completely changed colour and the last daylight fades over the Mediterranean.

"This is not a sightseeing excursion. It is an experience about being in the moment."

What is the trip like — from the canals to the sunset in the bay

A 2-hour journey designed to enjoy every change of light.

1

The first hour — Santa Margarita canals as dusk falls

The trip starts at Santa Margarita Marina when the sun has set enough for the light to be warm and the reflections in the water are perfect. The houses turn orange, the palm trees cast long shadows, and the atmosphere of the residential area has an almost cinematic quality. This is the most photogenic section.

2

Leaving the canals for the bay — the show begins

When the boat leaves the canals and opens into Roses Bay, the scenery changes in scale. The sun is already close to the horizon, the sky begins to fill with colour, and the bay becomes a mirror. We anchor or cruise slowly so the sunset is as spectacular as possible.

3

The moment of sunset

When the sun touches the horizon, time pauses a little. The sky changes from orange to pink, from pink to purple. The Pyrenees in the background, Cap de Creus to the right, the water perfectly still. If you've brought something to toast with, the skipper knows exactly when to stop the engine and let silence and colour fill everything.

4

The return through the canals at night

The return through the canals after dark has a completely different atmosphere. The houses have their lights on, the reflections in the water are a different colour, and the canals have that almost surreal nighttime tranquility. It's the perfect ending to a trip that started with light and ends with darkness.

Who is the Sunset Experience for?

The Sunset Experience is designed for special moments. It's not the midday beach excursion — it's the trip that closes a perfect day or turns an ordinary day into something memorable.

Couples

A sunset boat trip is the ultimate romantic experience in Roses. No groups, no strangers, just you two and the best moment of the day. For anniversaries, getaways, or simply because you want a different sunset. If you want to prepare something special on board—champagne, flowers, a surprise—let us know.

Small groups of friends

For quiet celebrations, evening birthday parties, or simply the perfect end to a Costa Brava day. The Sunset Experience in a group has a different energy from a daytime excursion—more intimate, more contemplative, with the kind of conversation that only flows in truly special settings.

Families

For families looking for something different from the usual excursions. Children who have spent the day at the beach often experience the sunset from the boat with completely different attention. The colour change and the evening return are etched in memory with unique intensity.

When is the best time for the Sunset Experience in Roses

The sunset in Roses has different characteristics depending on the season and this directly affects the experience.

July and August

Spectacular sunsets

The months with the most spectacular sunsets of the year. The sun sets late (between 21:00 and 21:30), skies are clear on almost every day, and the water temperature in the late afternoon is perfect. The downside: you need to book well in advance.

June and September

Perfect balance

Equally beautiful sunsets, excellent temperature, and much less demand than at the height of summer. For couples or groups with flexibility on dates, these months are the best option.

May and October

Total tranquility

For those who prefer the Sunset Experience out of season. The sun sets earlier (19:30-20:30), cold starts to appear, and there is much less traffic in the canals. The solitude of Santa Margarita at sunset in October has a different quality.
